The dictionary defines gambling as the act of playing for stakes for winning money or prize. Also after the meaning the dictionary gives two example usage sentences, “he won a million at the gambling table today” and “he lost a fortune at gambling”. These two sum up the meaning of gambling more effectively! Gambling is all about luck. Either you win good deal of money or you might even go bankrupt. Currently in the west it has led to a phrase being coined called ‘it’s a gamble’. Gambling is to wager money or even something that has some value on a game or an incident of which the final result is uncertain. The main intention being of course to win the bet.
Gambling first started in casinos and betting houses. But after the internet became a daily necessity of our life people thought of taking the betting tables to the net.
